Take-A-Vet Fishing Weekend

The Cape Lookout Mobile Sportsfishermen has a long history of supporting Veterans in the form of a Take-A-Vet fishing outing. Starting in 2013 and taking place during or around the Veterans Day weekend, this event has become one of our most enriching events for our club volunteers and the veterans alike.  Dedicated to honoring U.S. military veterans—active, reserve, and retired—by providing a totally free surf fishing excursion from beautiful South Core Banks.

    The program aims to offer a relaxing weekend on the beach as a form of therapeutic escape, fellowship, and gratitude for their service. It helps veterans reconnect with others who share similar experiences, often aiding in coping with PTSD, physical challenges, or daily stresses through the calming power of fishing and camaraderie.
